The Weekly Atticus

This Week at Atticus Review

A recap of the week's writing at Atticus Review. Intro by Christopher Linforth.

As we move into fall and the nights draw in, what better way to spend the evening than to dig into a good book? Recent releases that have caught my eye include: The Great Man Theory, The Deceptions, Wonderlands: Essays on the Life of Literature, and Crying in the Bathroom.

Atticus now has a brick-and-mortar store in Arizona! Let us know on Twitter which books we should be on the lookout for? Which ones have been overlooked? Perhaps you'd like to review one for Atticus? See, for example, on the Attic this week, Yamini Patha's review of Anu Mahade's poetry collection a mouthful of sky.

Submissions for issue 3 are now open! We're looking for poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and mixed media. We're also open for book reviews. Submit here! Remember to take a look at our previous issues for the type of work we publish.

On November 1, we'll open submissions for our flash fiction contest. First place receives $1000, with other prizes for runners-up, and other finalists may be offered publication. The judge will be Sara Lippmann!

Until next time, thanks so much for reading.

WHAT THE OBITS OMITTED

Barbara Riddle remembers Barbara Ehrenreich" You and I lived together off-campus in funky Portland apartments two years in a row during our time at Reed; McDonald’s fries were 11 cents a bag and we lived on pork steaks, peanut butter and mac n’ cheese for about $7 a week each. "Read more.

BOOK REVIEW

Yamini Pathak reviews a mouthful of sky by Anu Mahadev

"The voices in these poems never tiptoe around the harsh landscapes of their lives but Mahadev weaves an unmistakable music all through the collection."
