The Weekly Atticus

This Week at Atticus Review

A recap of the week's writing at Atticus Review. Intro by Christopher Linforth.

Tell us about your favorite literary podcast! Is is Literary Disco? Book Fight? The New Yorker's fiction podcast? Backlisted? The Penguin Podcast? To this pantheon, we can now add Atticus After Dark! In this new atticus venture, we've produced three episodes and the latest has just dropped. In this episode our host, Sam Slaughter, interviews author Lori Jakiela, who discusses how cancer has informed her work and writing process.

On the Attic this week, Carol Wierzbicki reviews Ona Grit's essay collection Present Imperfect (Poets Wear Prada, 2021).

From Issue 2, I'd like to highlight some of the brilliant poems that interrogate our relationship with the Internet. First up, Emily Rose Cole's "Persephone on Instagram,"  next Connie Post's "Social Media," and lastly Anna Lewis' "Solstitium."

We're still looking for poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and mixed media for our upcoming issue. Stay tuned to our Twitter for an upcoming free submissions day! Remember to take a look at our previous issues for the type of work we publish. In bonus news, during our current open call for submissions, our wonderful poetry editors are also looking for poems for a special poetry-only folio to be released in February (just submit in our usual poetry category).

Remember you can always visit the Atticus Headquarters in Arizona. Stop by for a chat and pick up a book or record at Atticus Books & Music.

Until next time, thanks so much for reading.
