The Weekly Atticus
This Week at Atticus Review
A recap of the week's writing at Atticus Review. Intro by Christopher Linforth.
So many good things are happening in the Atticus Literary Universe. First, the grand opening of Atticus Books and Music is happening on September 17th in Fountain Hills, AZ. If you're around that day, stop in and purchase something. If you do, you'll receive complimentary membership in the Atticus Reading Club, which includes a free book and bag. In recent newsletters, I've also mentioned news on Atticus's forthcoming books: Peter Bethanis's poetry collection, Li Po, Li Hua, and the Sophist and Lori Jakiela's memoir They Write Your Name on a Grain of Rice: On Cancer, Love, and Living Even So. Stay tuned for announcements on other books.
Last week, I announced our forthcoming flash fiction contest. The contest will run November 1 through January 15, and will be judged by Sara Lippmann, the author most recently of Jerks, from Mason Jar Press. The grand prize is $1,000 and publication, with two runners-up. Entries are $15 each, and every entry is also considered for publication. Start working on those flashes now!
In the meantime, you can submit work for our next issue. Check out our guidelines on Submittable. To get a sense of the type of work we like, check our recent issue. In particular, this week, I'm showcasing Siel Ju's terrific story "Chef Grace."
Lastly, on the Attic this week, Rhienna Guedry reviews Tiger Paw, Tiger Paw, Knife Knife, a story collection by Kelly Gray. We also have a post on recent Atticus staff achievements. It has been a real pleasure working with so many talented writers over the last year.
Until next week, take care. Christopher LinforthEditor-in-Chief
